Dutch Artist Parra at San Francisco’s MOMA

I unfortunately missed the Grand Opening of Dutch Artist Parra‘s show at the SFMOMA,  but I did get the chance to attend his after party, which featured his band LE LE at the Mighty SF. It was a high energy show as Parra did some live drawing and animation on the old overhead projector. After several years of inspiration, it was an honor to finally meet the genius behind the playful artwork. If you haven’t checked out the MOMA or Parra’s work….get on it before it’s too late.

Parra in San Francisco — SFMOMA/MightySF

Where else could you get ‘Weirded Out,’ than at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art? It’s only fitting that the bold and playful mural of Amsterdam-based artist Parra be exhibited at SFMoMA. The massive mural exhibit is being done entirely in acrylic and is packed full of Parra’s signature monochromatic hybridized cartoon characters and free-form typography. The exhibit opens on March 31, and runs into July, giving you plenty of time to get to San Francisco.

Don’t forget to see Parra’s Band, Le Le, LIVE at the Mighty before the Show.

KAWS x Yoskay Yamamoto Collaboration (Rumor)

With little to no surrounding news, take this image with a grain of salt as this COMPANION foot from KAWS is rumored to be an upcoming collaboration between the artist and Yoskay Yamamoto. The Japanese-born, American artist often looks to infuse elements of both his born and adopted heritages into a particular kind of art that carries several layers and sensibilities. Stay tuned for more information. Big ups to my good friend Yoskay….Doing it big man.
